citytravelreview-curso-cover-bearlinHere at City Travel Review, we wanted to create a travel guide that reflects the quirky culture of Berlin, avoiding any exclusivity and pretensions that can be often associated with this beautiful city. So, with this in mind, we extend to you the furry paw of Berlin’s official mascot – the bear. In 2001, Klaus and Eva Herlitz initiated the ‘Buddy Bear’ Project and with the help of sculptor Roman Strobl, they installed a collection of life-sized painted bears throughout the city. Standing with open arms, these bears have now become symbolic of the diverse and free-thinking character of Berlin as well as integral part of the cityscape. It is this side of Berlin we want to show you, the reader.

Having left our respective dens, we arrived in the city as young cubs in search of adventure. During our time here we’ve foraged for tasty food spots, hibernated in coffee shops and crawled through bars and clubs. We’ve sniffed out shopping plazas, pawed through flea markets and captured art and historical sites for you to really sink your teeth into.
With such an efficient transportation network, it’s super easy to get from place to place and fully immerse yourself in Berlin’s culture. Unlike many large cities, you won’t be barged off the train by angry commuters and uptight business folk. Here, there’s a very liberal sentiment and (as long are you’re respectful) you can generally live how you like without fear or judgement. Want to sit around in a café chatting with friends or writing your new novel… on a weekday? Most definitely! Want to ride around on your bike in a ghastly getup of sandals and socks? When in Berlin! Want to make your mark and create some street art? Go wild! Here in Berlin, the City Travel Review team attempted to live like the locals and give you a fresh perspective of this amazing city.

The city is remarkable in many ways, but its magnetic energy is what really grips you. The atmosphere is self-perpetuating, attracting likeminded people from all over the world. Whether you’re here to build upon your historical awareness, creative inspiration, or just a bloody good time, Berlin is the place to be.

So, helping you to navigate through the dynamic culture of this amazing city, this lil’ travel guide aims to be your very own Buddy Bear. We’ve been grizzly and ruthless in our selections, pouncing on only the very best places, but the ever-changing and exciting culture in Berlin means there’s still plenty of scope for new cubs to find their own rivers to fish in.
Disclaimer: management takes no responsibility for readers reactions to bear puns
